Mathura Kalauny

My name is Mathura Dutt Kalauny. I am generally known by my literary name Mathura Kalauny. I would like to be called Mathura. I belong to a place called Pithoragarh which is in the state of Uttaranchal in Northern India. Pithoragarh is in the Shivalik hill range of the Himalayas.
I write in Hindi and English. Most of my published work is in Hindi. I started writing somewhere in the eighties. So far more than 150 short stories have been published in various Hindi magazines of India. I have also written three short novels and about two dozen plays in both Hindi and English and three full length plays in Hindi.
I have established an amatuer theatre group in Bangalore, India. We stage at least one play in a big way in a year. All the artists, like myself are working people. We meet regularly for play readings. The group has a website at
