View Full Version : Anybody still out there? DragoNut1 07-25-2008, 03:12 PM Carlan, Warnick, Missgranted, any of you still alive? the forum is dull without you, pease come in, over Carlan 07-27-2008, 01:04 PM I am still alive and thus far I like it like that. However, I am by nature a pretty dull person, so, I doubt that I will be able to liven up this forum for you. I can tell you what makes for dull conversation for me. Dull conversation for me is caused when any topic under discussion turns from a two-way or a multiple-way discussion to a one-way conversation where one person in the group speaks as if he or she is the only one that knows anything about the topic and, in stead of listening to what the other person or persons is or are saying, speaks as if the others do not know what they are talking about. In other words, dull conversation is caused when any person tends to dominate others by putting them down or by answering their questions with other questions but not answering the questions asked in the first place or by asking the others to prove their opinion about something that everyone knows cannot be proven and do not have to be proven because they are discussing an opinion only and are not having a mathematical or a scientific formulas or questions discussion, in which case, proof needs to be provided. Sometimes we have a tendency to believe that if we speak louder or more quickly or more often or with more words or with a more domineering and repetitive voice than other people that everyone around listening will think that we are somehow brilliant and very intelligent and full of wit, when in truth, even the least intelligent amongst us know that we are not only petty tyrants we are ignorant and very dull minded people to boot. I tune in nearly everyday here and what I look for are questions or opinions or thoughts that people out there are having that they feel they either cannot ask their closes friend or confidant or that they would like to talk frankly about something that they feel that if they would dare to ask people they personally know that those people would only laugh at them or would not take them seriously. I also look for things that might trigger in me something I had not thought of for years or even thought recently that would cause my mind to think something different, perhaps, something entertaining or something provocative or something quite puzzling. In other words, I am always in search of other people’s thoughts and conversations that make me think my own thoughts! Mostly, I find that conversations and most thoughts are mundane and very dull but every now and again I find that small kernel of thought out there that peeks my interest and, then, I write and I talk with delight. Pretty dull and boring stuff, but as I said in my first paragraph, I am by nature a pretty dull person. datahound 07-28-2008, 02:54 PM Dull conversation for me is caused when any topic under discussion turns from a two-way or a multiple-way discussion to a one-way conversation where one person in the group speaks as if he or she is the only one that knows anything about the topic and, in stead of listening to what the other person or persons is or are saying, speaks as if the others do not know what they are talking about. A very interesting thought. I think it is very important to understand that other peoples opinions are valid and though we may disagree with them, that we do so politely. amiee howell 08-01-2008, 03:30 PM i dont think you are dull i would like to talk to you i live a dull life and could use someone to talk to amiee howell 08-01-2008, 03:31 PM is any one out there that wants to talk DragoNut1 08-01-2008, 11:32 PM Yeah sure I'd love to, and by the way, welcome to thinkers.net. (this is a line) and in my opinion it is like a rope but it has circled and pass through the centre and by the not favourable end(lets say the circle has two ends the upper and lower) ok so in my opinion ur line has some knots but the fact is it is not of our concern right now. In my opinion the work we do is of our concern whether we are making a circle or a line by the dots(each dot is a work). i think i understand the words, endless knot, their are knots (from the above words ), but until we live we do some work while living and the line is endless. ok i stop writing here byee, hope to c u later................... |
