As we get older we become wiser, however when we do something tha we should not, its like the wisdom just flies away, we want what we should not and crave for what we can have but should not. Why?

Wisdom is like any other God given quality, in that, everyone is given certain amounts of wisdom to absorb, but is not given anymore than what that person can absorb, i.e., there are wise people, and then, there are wiser people, and then, there are the wisest people. The wisest people have the least difficulty handling such things as self gratification, jealousy, retaliation, hatred, emotional distress, and self preservation. But, I have not knowledge of any wise person that has not had a known or a secret misadventure in their lives.
In answer to your question, I would say that if any of us were one of the wisest-of-the-wisest (so to speak) we would not find ourselves in a craving position very often if ever. In my case, I am more human than god-like and I fall into the category of the Wisdom-Insufficient Group. We are quite the largest group in the world and our numbers are growing at an alarming rate. We got just enough wisdom to get us into trouble but generally not enough wisdom to get us out of it!
In God’s ancient and all-knowing wisdom God has decided not to give me anymore wisdom than I’ve gotten already because God knows that if I had anymore wisdom I would only go out and hurt myself with it!

A question for the thinkers...what exactly is Wisdom?

Mmmm thanks Carlan.. and Paxis for challenging.
Is widsom a gift? My natural inclination was to say no. I was thinking wisdom is acquired, and linked to what we have learned about truth and creative living. But I can see that sort of almost Biblical thinking that wisdom is like faith, (eg references to those born with 'eyes to see and ears to listen' .. ) or even to see the world as God sees it..
On balance I'll go for the middle position, its about discernment of truth/s and development of knowledge, and its application for creative outcomes.
Elsewhere I have argued that love is 'wise decision making' (which I think was a reference from Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled).. and in a sense he defined that as decisions which enhance the spiritual well being of self and/or others.
What did you think Praxis

Wisdom, to me, is basically that created thought in one’s mind that when reasonably thought out and acted upon puts one on the correct course that will more nearly keep that individual from making an error of judgment, therefore, causing that person further problems.
We exercise wisdom in most of what we do and say everyday. However, we choose not to use wisdom too many times throughout our lifetimes. Instead of utilizing our wisdom, we choose to take chances, or to gamble, or to take the easy way out, or we take the fastest route, or we sidestep issues, or we overlook other possibilities, or we choose to go on faith and trust. All of these other choices may often give us our desired results and give us seemingly much quicker results, too, however they are risky, they are iffy, they lack reliability, and they lack assuredness. Wisdom is often very ponderous and time consuming and hasn’t the glitz and the glamour of the other choices that our free will might make, but, when we choose wisdom it will inevitably pay us expected premiums and could offer us many other worthwhile dividends and opportunities, as well.
